Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Ayan Mursalin is a precious and resilient one-month-old baby boy who has faced serious medical challenges since birth and continues to fight for his health and eyesight. He lives with his parents and grandmother in a three-member family, while his father, Md. Hasan Hossain (25), is the sole earner, working as a construction laborer and earning only about USD 65 per month, which is barely enough for their basic needs. Born at 38 weeks with birth trauma and a low birth weight of 1,800 grams, Ayan required 16 days of NICU care for serious complications, and his family exhausted their limited resources on his treatment before he was diagnosed with ROP in both eyes. He now urgently requires specialized eye treatment and regular retinal examinations, but his family cannot afford the cost and is seeking support from Helpster Charity. Without timely treatment, ROP may progress rapidly to irreversible retinal damage and retinal detachment, resulting in permanent blindness and significantly affecting Ayan’s future development.

Prognosis

According to the treating specialists, Ayan urgently requires Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes, followed by regular retinal examinations to monitor his response to treatment and retinal development. Timely treatment is expected to control the abnormal blood vessel growth, support proper retinal development, and provide a good opportunity to preserve functional vision. If treatment is delayed due to financial hardship, ROP may progress rapidly, causing irreversible retinal damage and retinal detachment, ultimately resulting in permanent blindness. Early intervention and regular follow-up are therefore essential to protect Ayan’s eyesight and support his future development.
