Mousumi Akhter is a 28-year-old housewife who manages her household and supports her family despite their financial difficulties. She lives with her husband, his parents, two younger brothers, and one brother’s wife and child in a small tin-shed house with a mud floor, making an eight-member household. Her husband is the sole earning member and works as a local shop salesman, earning approximately USD 66 per month, which is insufficient to support such a large family and cover medical expenses. Mousumi was admitted with increasing weakness and intermittent lower abdominal discomfort after her pregnancy passed the expected delivery date and was diagnosed with post-dated pregnancy. Without timely obstetric assessment and appropriate delivery management, prolonged pregnancy may increase risks to both mother and baby. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a staff member of CSDK.

Mousumi Akhter was admitted to the hospital on 14 June 2026 with a post-dated pregnancy requiring a safe delivery. Based on the doctor's assessment, she successfully underwent a Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS), resulting in the safe delivery of a healthy baby. She received postoperative medicines, antibiotics, and supportive care, and both mother and baby recovered well during their hospital stay. Mousumi was discharged in stable condition on 17 June 2026, and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the medical team for making the safe delivery possible.

Lower Uterine Cesarean Section (LUCS) is expected to provide a timely and controlled delivery for Mousumi’s post-dated pregnancy, reducing the risk of complications associated with prolonged pregnancy. With appropriate preoperative assessment, surgery, and postoperative monitoring, both mother and baby are expected to have a better chance of a safe outcome. If timely delivery is not provided, post-dated pregnancy may increase the risk of reduced fetal well-being, fetal distress, and complications during labor, potentially endangering both mother and baby.
