Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Rabbi Mia is a 17-year-old young man who has been experiencing weakness and getting tired easily for the past two months, making normal physical activities difficult for him. He lives with his parents, elder brother, and younger sister in a four-member family, while his father, Jakir Mia (45), is the main earner, working as a farmer on other people’s land and earning only about USD 73 per month. His elder brother has an irregular income as a mason’s helper, and the family’s limited resources are not enough to cover Rabbi’s medical treatment and daily household needs. At NICVD, Rabbi was diagnosed with severe narrowing of a heart valve, along with a small opening between the heart’s chambers, and the family learned about Helpster Charity through an NICVD volunteer and the hospital’s Deputy Director. Without timely treatment, his heart condition may worsen, causing increasing weakness, breathing difficulties, serious heart problems, and potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

Medical management followed by balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty is expected to relieve the severe pulmonary valve obstruction, reduce the pressure burden on the right side of the heart, and improve the patient’s exercise tolerance and fatigue. The treatment documented on page 2 was balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty, with follow-up echocardiography showing improvement after the procedure. With appropriate cardiac follow-up, the patient is expected to have improved functional capacity and quality of life. If left untreated, severe pulmonary stenosis may progressively strain the heart and lead to worsening symptoms, right-sided heart dysfunction, arrhythmias, and potentially life-threatening cardiac complications.
