Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Jackline is a 28-year-old married mother of three who lives with her family in a modest two-roomed house. Her husband depends on irregular casual labour, and his unpredictable earnings are largely spent on food, rent, school requirements and other essential household needs. Jackline supplements the family’s livelihood through small-scale farming and finds solace in attending church. With three dependent children and no stable income, the household has very limited financial reserves. Jackline had been well during pregnancy until she went into labour, when she noticed that her baby’s movements had significantly reduced. She also developed regular uterine contractions. On admission, fetal heart rate monitoring showed a non-reassuring fetal heart rate pattern, raising concern that the baby could be compromised. Given the potential risk to the baby, the obstetric team recommended and performed an emergency Caesarean section. The unexpected emergency left the family without adequate time to mobilize funds, and they have exhausted their available resources and are unable to settle the hospital expenses.
Prognosis
Jackline developed a non-reassuring fetal status during labour, indicating possible fetal compromise and requiring prompt intervention to prevent serious complications such as fetal hypoxia, birth asphyxia or stillbirth. The decision to perform an emergency Caesarean section was therefore medically appropriate to achieve timely and safe delivery. She is currently recovering well following surgery. With appropriate postoperative care, wound monitoring and follow-up, Jackline’s prognosis is favourable, with full recovery expected.
