Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Shakhawat Islam is a cheerful and active 2-year-old boy who was previously well before developing persistent fever and gastrointestinal symptoms. He lives with his parents, uncle, and grandmother in a five-member family without a permanent home, while his father, Sohel Rana (23), is the sole earner, working as an auto-rickshaw driver and earning only about USD 49 per month. With this limited income and difficult living conditions, the family struggles to meet daily necessities and cannot afford Shakhawat’s medical expenses, and they learned about Helpster Charity through a relative. His fever progressively worsened despite home treatment, accompanied by rash, vomiting, loss of appetite, loose stools, and fatigue, and he was diagnosed with typhoid fever at New Evercare Hospital. Without timely antibiotic treatment and supportive care, typhoid may progress to severe infection, dehydration, intestinal complications, sepsis, and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Shakhawat Islam so that he can receive appropriate antibiotics, medication, and supportive care. With timely treatment, his fluid balance can be maintained, his weakness can gradually improve, and he will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help his body regain strength and reduce the risk of further complications. However, if typhoid fever is left untreated, it can lead to serious complications such as intestinal perforation, gastrointestinal bleeding, seizures, meningitis, and myocarditis. Without prompt medical care, the condition can become life-threatening, particularly in a young child.
