Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Olympus Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd43/R/4, West Panthapath, Tehgaon, Dhaka, PO: 1215Hospital contacts
Background

A 1-year-and-4-month-old boy with a history of global developmental delay and epileptic spasms lives with his parents and unemployed uncle. His father works as a tailor and earns approximately USD 65 per month as the sole breadwinner, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of urgent treatment at Olympus Hospital. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a hospital staff member and sought assistance after the child developed a high fever, severe cough, and acute respiratory distress following feeding. He was diagnosed with severe aspiration pneumonia and septicemia, requiring urgent PICU care, oxygen support, intravenous antibiotics, and a blood transfusion. Without timely treatment, his condition could rapidly deteriorate, leading to respiratory failure, septic shock, and potentially death.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctor, controlling the infection with broad-spectrum antibiotics, correcting metabolic abnormalities, and providing blood transfusion for anemia are essential, with PICU care until the child stabilizes. Timely treatment can improve his breathing and overall condition while reducing the risk of serious complications from severe aspiration pneumonia and septicemia. If left untreated, the infection may rapidly worsen, causing severe respiratory failure, septic shock, worsening anemia, and potentially life-threatening organ dysfunction. Prompt intensive medical management is therefore critical for recovery.
