Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

The patient is a 25-year-old homemaker who hopes to build a healthy and secure future for her husband, their 3-year-old son, and their growing family. Her husband is the sole earning member, working as a day labourer and earning approximately USD 65–73 per month to support the five-member household, including his elderly parents, leaving the family with limited means to afford emergency medical expenses. During her second pregnancy, after an otherwise uneventful course, she experienced a gush of fluid followed by continuous leakage for one day and labour pain at 38 weeks of pregnancy, prompting her family to seek hospital care. An ultrasound revealed severe oligohydramnios and fetal bradycardia, and the doctor recommended an immediate caesarean section to protect the baby’s life. Without timely delivery, the baby may suffer severe oxygen deprivation, permanent neurological injury, or stillbirth, making urgent treatment essential.

Prognosis

The doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a crucial, life-saving intervention. The patient's history of premature rupture of membranes, severe oligohydramnios and fetal bradycardia puts both the mother and baby at significant risk. The lack of amniotic fluid can lead to the umbilical cord becoming compressed, which can cut off the baby's oxygen supply and lead to fetal bradycardia, irreversible brain damage, or stillbirth. Without the immediate surgical delivery, the risk of a tragic outcome for the baby is high. The C-section, while a major surgery, offers the best chance to bypass these life-threatening complications and ensure a safe and healthy start to the baby's life.
