Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Sami Ahmed is a 9-month-old baby who was admitted to Seba Hospital with high-grade fever, cough, severe respiratory distress, vomiting, and abdominal distension and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia with abdominal distension. His father, Nasir Ahmed (30), works as a farmer and earns approximately BDT 5,000 (around USD 41) per month, while his mother, Mina Begum (25), is a homemaker. The family lives in a modest tin-roofed house with a mud floor, and their limited income makes it difficult to afford Sami’s hospitalization, medicines, and supportive treatment. They learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Tanjila Shahin Ema and sought assistance for his treatment. Without timely treatment, his severe pneumonia and respiratory distress may worsen, leading to respiratory failure, severe infection, and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctors, hospitalization, parenteral antibiotics, nebulization, and other supportive therapy are recommended to manage Sami Ahmed’s severe pneumonia with abdominal distension. With timely treatment and close monitoring, his respiratory distress and infection are expected to improve, helping him recover safely. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may progress to worsening respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, and other serious complications. The associated abdominal distension also requires appropriate monitoring and management. Therefore, timely hospital-based treatment and close monitoring are essential for Sami’s recovery.
