Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Meshack is a two-year-old only child who enjoys playing when he is well. He lives with his parents, aunts, uncles and elderly grandparents in a homestead of two houses, each house mud-walled and two rooms each. His father relies on informal work in the village, earning too little to consistently meet the family’s basic needs and Meshack’s medical expenses. Meshack attended a community outreach with his mother, organised by Awasi Catholic Mission Health Centre in partnership with Helpster Charity to connect vulnerable families with treatment support. He appeared thin, tired and weak and had an ongoing fever. Following assessment, Meshack was diagnosed with severe malnutrition requiring immediate medical attention. The outreach team arranged his transfer to the health centre, where he was promptly admitted for treatment and further care. The partnership helped him access urgently needed medical support despite his family’s financial difficulties.

Prognosis

Meshack condition is critical due to severe acute malnutrition, compounded by underlying conditions, which increases his vulnerability. Immediate admission and treatment with therapy, nutritional rehabilitation, and supportive care were necessary to stabilize him.
