Phabian B., 1

Phabian is an 11-month old child living with both parents around the market place. Phabian’s mother is a housewife and just stays in the house. The father is a small-holder farmer. He owns a quarter acre of farm that he inherited from his father and that is where the household of 5 live. Phabian has two older siblings, one is 3yrs old and the other is 7yrs. The 7yr old does not go to school. He has had a cough and a running nose. Phabian was presented to the hospital feeling unwell but the mother had no money. She says that she had tried to even look for work in the neighbouring houses, at least to get something to bring the child to hospital, but was unable to find any job. She is requesting for assistance to be able to get her child treated. Admission date - 24. May 2023.

Child was treated for pneumonia as an out-patient. Responded well to medication. Phabian's mother was very happy because she was assisted by Helpster Charity to pay for the medical bills. She was initially worried that without funds, her child's condition would deteriorate and Phabian would have to be admitted. Phabian was reviewed at the hospital again on 27.05.2023 and confirmed to be doing well on medication.

The patient was presented to our hospital with cough, loss of appetite, hotness of body and running nose. The child was diagnosed with Acute Pneumonia. If left untreated can cause lung failure and death.
