Falmata Umar is an 18-year-old woman living in Gwange Ward with her family. Born to loving parents who have always prioritized their children’s well-being, her parents have worked tirelessly to provide for their family, often facing economic hardships that have impacted their ability to afford educational opportunities for Falmata. She was well until a few days ago, when she started feeling unwell, with each day coming with challenges. It started with a constant urge to urinate and a burning sensation that left her wincing in pain. At first, she dismissed it as just a minor discomfort. Still, Falmata's muscles soon began to twitch involuntarily, and she experienced a tingling sensation in her fingers and feet. Her legs cramped painfully, and she struggled to perform simple tasks without feeling fatigued. The pain intensified, and she subsequently developed a high fever and chills that made her shiver even in the heat of the day and made her feel weak and exhausted. It got worse when she started experiencing sharp pelvic pain, accompanied by an unusual discharge and fever. Her mother knew these symptoms were severe. With a sense of urgency, she decided it was time to seek medical help. When they arrived at our facility, she was examined and diagnosed with Malaria, Enteric fever, and Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).

Falmata was diagnosed with multiple serious conditions UTI, malaria with enteric fever, hypocalcemia, and P.I.D. which made her illness very challenging. Her family, worried and overwhelmed, found hope through the support of Helpster charity. With proper medical care and the charity’s help covering her treatment, Falmata gradually regained her strength. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassion that saved her life and restored their hope.

If not treated urgently, UTI can lead to kidney damage, sepsis, or chronic urinary problems. Malaria + Enteric Fever can cause severe complications, organ failure, and potentially be fatal. Hypocalcemia can result in muscle spasms, cardiac issues, and neurological problems. P.I.D (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) can cause infertility, chronic pain, and ectopic pregnancies.
