Jayson J., 2

Jayson is a two-year-old boy living with his family in a rural village without electricity. Access to water requires a walk of over 30 minutes to a nearby stream. His father is the sole provider, working as a security guard at a local day school and earning KES 2,000, which he uses to support the entire family. Jayson had been diagnosed with sickle cell disease and has been attending regular checkups. However, the family struggles to afford his medication. Recently, Jayson developed a persistent cough lasting four days, which worsens at night and often leads to vomiting after intense coughing episodes. His mother also reports that he has a mild fever and a noticeably reduced appetite.

He is a known sickle cell client who have been battling with it and has been attending check ups but the family can't afford Jayson's medication Jayson presented with a 4-day history of persistent coughing, which is worse at night and associated with vomiting after episodes of severe coughing. The mother also reports low-grade fever and reduced appetite ,he was assessed and treated at Bulondo health centre and she was stable on her discharge.

Prognosis is good. Prompt diagnosis is critical in managing pneumonia in patients with sickle cell disease.
