Yakaltum U., 19

Yakaltum is a 19-year-old lady, her husband was killed by book haram. She is a widow which she leaves under her brother, and she is less privileged person which cannot afford the bills until Helpster intervened. At 19, she was usually vibrant, full of laughter and dreams of university. But now, she lay on a thin mat, each breath a struggle, each movement a fresh wave of torment. The malaria had struck with a ferocity she'd never imagined. The fever was the most relentless tormentor. It wasn't just heat; it was an inferno raging within her, making her skin feel scorched and her head throb with an unbearable pressure. She shivered violently, her teeth chattering uncontrollably, even though her body felt like it was melting. Then the chills would give way to an even more intense heat, drenching her in sweat that offered no relief. On presentation at our hospital, she was evaluated and diagnosed with Severe Malaria.

​"Yakaltum was admitted to our facility in critical condition and diagnosed with severe malaria. Following an intensive course of IV antimalarials and comprehensive clinical care, her condition stabilized significantly. She has since been discharged to continue her recovery at home with oral medication. We anticipate a full recovery provided she adheres to her treatment plan. She is having Severe Malaria, which can be life-threatening but given the right treatment and care, the prognosis is good with possible full recovery.
