Jannatul Ferdous, a sweet and quiet 2-year-old girl from a remote village in Chandpur, has been living in darkness—literally—due to congenital cataracts in both eyes that have robbed her of sight since birth. Her family, with a monthly income of only BDT 5,000 from her grandfather, a small-scale farmer, struggles to meet their basic needs in their tiny tin-roofed home. Her mother, Sumaiya Akhter, who is disabled from a recent accident, cannot work or afford the BDT 81,000 needed for her life-changing surgery. Without this urgent operation and intraocular lens implantation, Jannatul risks remaining blind forever, missing out on the colors and wonders of the world around her. Her family’s limited resources leave them helpless to give her the chance at a brighter future filled with sight and joy.

Jannatul Ferdous, a 2-year-old girl, was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes, which severely affected her vision and daily development. To restore her eyesight and ensure normal visual growth, she underwent cataract surgery in both eyes under anesthesia by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, with a three-month interval between procedures. Both surgeries were performed successfully and went smoothly without complications. After completing the treatments, Jannatul’s visual acuity has significantly improved, and she can now see clearly and interact more confidently with her surroundings. She feels comfortable, active, and happy as her vision has been restored. Her recovery has been excellent, and she is now able to enjoy the world around her with bright and healthy eyes. The treatment outcome has brought immense joy and relief to her family. Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital in Chandpur, has reviewed Jannatul’s case and strongly recommends immediate cataract surgery. He advises that the surgery be performed under general anesthesia with the implantation of secondary intraocular lenses in both eyes. The doctor believes that with prompt and proper treatment, Jannatul’s vision can be significantly restored, allowing her to see, learn, and grow like other children her age. He warns, however, that any delay in treatment could cause permanent damage to her visual system, with lifelong consequences.
