The parents of Abubakar are very proud of their child because of how fast he is learning things. They wish to send him to a better school but because of the finances, he is currently attending a community primary school. One day the story will change as they are focused on Abubakar's health condition. He started having abdominal pain, high body temperature and weakness of the body, he has been throwing up as well as rejecting food. On presentation at our hospital, he was evaluated and diagnosed with Malaria and Enteric Fever.

The presenting complain for Abubakar was as follows : abdominal pain, high body temperature and weakness of the body, he has been throwing up as well as rejecting food. The doctor issued out some tests which revealed malaria and enteric fever. He was admitted and given antimalarials, antibiotics as well a other supportive medications. He started regaining his strength and his appetite for food resumed, injections were completed. The doctor gave advise to the parents to support his recovery with good nutrition and always keep their surroundings clean as it will reduce the spread of mosquitoes. For malaria, prognosis is excellent when diagnosed early and treated promptly with antimalarial medications. Most patients recover fully within days. However, if treatment is delayed—especially in severe cases—it can lead to complications like coma, organ failure, or death. For enteric fever, the outlook is also favorable with early antibiotic therapy. Most cases resolve within 1–2 weeks. Without proper treatment, though, it may cause serious issues like intestinal bleeding or perforation. We emphasize prevention through clean water, proper hygiene, and vaccination in high-risk areas.
