Baby Syprose is the firstborn child to her mother. She lives with her mother, grandmother, and six cousins in a modest two-room semi-permanent house, where some of the cousins sleep in the outdoor cooking area due to limited space. Baby Syprose is a neonate who was delivered vaginally at 8 months gestation. After birth, the doctor noticed that she was having difficulty breathing and she was immediately taken to the nursery for further management.

Baby Syprose was brought to the new unit immediately after birth; she had neonatal sepsis and birth asphyxia, which required further management. She stayed in the newborn unit for over a week. She was treated and administered drugs to which she was tolerant. She was discharged home and a follow up set for after a fortnight. A call to the grandmother revealed baby syprose was recovered and was breastfeeding well and had gained weight during their last visit to the postnatal clinic.

The prognosis for neonatal sepsis varies, with some infants recovering fully while others face mortality or long-term complications. Early-onset sepsis has an overall mortality rate of around 18%, while late-onset sepsis may have a mortality rate of up to 12% Patient was treated when the sepsis was in its early stages and managed before it developed to dangerous stages, and is expected to make a full recovery
