Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

YOBE STATE SPECIALIST HOSPITAL DAMATURU

Damaturu, Yobe State, 6 Gujba Road, Nigeria

Background

Umar is a 4-year-old active child who's always smiling and likes people very much. Umar presented with a 5-day history of fever cough and shortness of breath. His parents also reported a decline in his activity and feeding. On presentation at our hospital, Umar was evaluated and diagnosed with Bronchopneumonia.

Medical history

Umar was admitted and managed as a case of bronchopneumonia. After having his parenteral antibiotics and other supportive measures, he responded well with presenting symptoms subsiding. He was later discharged home with oral medications following the improvement of his condition to continue with his follow-up.

Outcome

Bronchopneumonia, like most of the infectious diseases is curable with the appropriate antibiotics and other supplementary medications. However, when left untreated or treatment is delayed, it can lead to life threatening complications like pleural effusion, respiratory compromise etc.
