Sonali Akter, a 17-year-old girl with disabilities, has been suffering from severe tonsil problems for a long time, experiencing constant pain, difficulty swallowing, and frequent infections. Her family, including her father Md. Abdul Mannan, a 60-year-old day laborer, her mother Razina Khatun, and her three married sisters Mousumi, Sumona, and Mahfuza, live in a small tin-shed house with a monthly income of only 10,000 Taka. Despite the urgent medical advice to remove her tonsils, they are helpless and unable to afford the high cost of surgery. If Sonali does not receive this life-changing operation soon, her condition will worsen, leading to more infections, increased pain, and potentially life-threatening complications. Her family’s hope is that support can help her get the treatment she desperately needs to regain her health and comfort.

Medical history

The patient, Sonali Akter 17 years old is a special child was admitted to City Clinic on 17 October 2025. A successful Adino-tonsilotomy operation was performed the same day.The child progressed well and were discharged on 18th October 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.

Outcome

Sonali Akter, a 17-year-old with chronic tonsillitis, requires urgent tonsillectomy to prevent the progression of infection and potential airway obstruction. Delaying surgery increases the risk of further spread of infection, respiratory compromise, and additional systemic complications. Timely removal of the tonsils will alleviate her symptoms, prevent life-threatening risks, and restore her overall health.
