Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Shah Kamal is an 11-year-old boy from a poor village in Chandpur, whose cheerful spirit and love for cricket are overshadowed by his worsening vision due to congenital cataract. His father, Md Sohag, earns only BDT 5,000 a month as a construction helper, while his mother works as a housemaid, leaving the family struggling to meet basic needs and unable to afford the BDT 40,500 surgery required to restore his sight. Without this urgent operation, Shah Kamal risks losing his ability to read, learn, and play, which could permanently hinder his future and confidence. His family, living in a relative’s home with no land or permanent shelter, desperately hopes for help to give him a second chance at education and happiness. Without timely treatment, Shah Kamal’s vision may deteriorate further, trapping him in a life of darkness and missed opportunities.

Medical history

Shah Kamal, a 11-year-old boy, required cataract surgery in his left eye because the cataract was severely affecting his ability to see clearly and perform daily activities. The surgery was successfully carried out under General anesthesia by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring a safe and carefully monitored procedure. Throughout the treatment process, Shah Kamal cooperated well, and the medical team closely tracked his progress to ensure smooth healing. After the surgery, he experienced significant improvement in comfort and visual clarity. His visual acuity continues to get better with each follow-up visit, allowing him to see more confidently and participate fully in his studies and daily life. The successful outcome has brought great relief and happiness to his family. Thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes, he received the essential treatment needed to restore his vision. Their support played a crucial role in helping him regain sight in the operated eye.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Shah Kamal urgently needs Cataract Surgery with an intraocular lens implant under general anesthesia. The doctors are optimistic that this surgery can restore significant vision in his left eye, allowing him to resume his education and participate in daily life like other children his age. However, if delayed, the damage may become permanent, and he could lose all vision in that eye. With timely intervention and support from Helpster Charity, Shah Kamal’s life can be transformed, enabling him to see the world clearly and follow his dreams once again.
