Background
The child attends school and enjoys playing with her siblings after class. She dreams of becoming a teacher one day. After school and on weekends, she helps her mother take care of their chickens and also assists in selling firewood at the local market to help raise money for food. Recently, the child developed bloody diarrhea accompanied by abdominal pain, vomiting, and general body weakness. According to her mother, the condition has continued to worsen despite attempts to treat her at home using herbal remedies and over-the-counter medication.

Sarah Awinja was brought to the hospital, examined and diagnosed with amoebic dysentery. She spent 3 days in hospital, she was treated with hydrating fluids and antibiotics.
