Alamin M., 6

Al-Amin Mohammed is a 6 year-old boy living with his parents and six siblings in the Gwange area of Borno State. Despite the family's financial struggles, Al-Amin is determined and hopeful. He attends a government primary school during the day and goes to Islamiyya classes in the evening to learn more about his religion. Al-Amin loves playing football with his friends in the neighborhood. He dreams of becoming a teacher one day so he can help other children learn and grow, just like his teachers do for him. One day, Al-Amin began to feel very sick. He complained of stomach pain and said he had seen worms in his stool. He also had a constant runny nose and looked weak and tired. His appetite reduced, and he was not as playful as usual. Seeing his condition getting worse, his parents became worried and decided to take him to the hospital in search of medical help. On presentation at our hospital, Alamin was evaluated and diagnosed with Malaria, Enteric Fever, Anemia, and Helminthiasis.

RECOVERY STORY: ALAMIN MOHAMMED When Alamin Mohammed became ill with malaria, enteric fever, diarrheal disease, mild anemia, and helminthiasis, his health was greatly affected. He experienced weakness and discomfort, making it difficult for him to carry out his normal daily activities. With timely medical intervention, Alamin received the treatment he needed, including antimalarial medications, antibiotics, deworming treatment, nutritional support, and other essential medications. Over the course of treatment, his condition improved steadily. His symptoms gradually resolved, his strength returned, and he regained his appetite and energy. Today, Alamin is healthy, active, and back to his normal routine. His family is relieved and grateful to see him fully recovered and able to enjoy childhood once again. This support ensured that Alamin received prompt treatment and made his recovery possible, bringing hope and relief to the entire family.

With early diagnosis and proper treatment, malaria, enteric fever, mild anemia, and helminthiasis in children usually have a good prognosis. Most children recover fully with the appropriate medications, nutritional support, and improved hygiene practices. However, delayed or inadequate treatment can lead to complications such as severe dehydration, chronic anemia, or intestinal damage. Prompt medical care and follow-up are essential to ensure complete recovery and prevent recurrence.
