Furera G., 5

Furera is a gentle girl who was enrolled in school. She likes going to school; however, due to her sickness, she hasn't been to school for a while now. She lives in an IDP camp. Her parent was killed by the insurgents. Now lives with a Samaritan in the camp. Furera presented with history of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Parents also noticed her to have lost weight recently and also she's said to be feeding less than she used to be. She was refered to our hospital to get support from Helpster. Upon presentation at our hospital and after further evaluation , she was diagnosed with Severe Bronchopneumonia in failure R/O PTB

Furera presented to us with history of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Her guardian also noticed her to have lost weight recently and also she's said to be feeding less than she used to be. After careful evaluation, she was found to be having Severe Bronchopneumonia in failure. She was properly managed with all the necessary interventions including parenteral Antibiotics and Analgesics, Intranasal oxygen, etc. As the treatment progressed, she responded well as evidenced by resolving of her admitting symptoms. She was then discharged home with oral medications to complete her recovery and return to her normal premorbid activities.

With timely and appropriate antibiotics with other supplementary management protocols, BPN is treatable and when it is treated well, heart failure also resolve. PTB on the other hand is treatable with Anti Koch. Both conditions when left unattended or inappropriately treated can lead to serious complications or even death.
