Eleven-year-old Liza Akter, a kind-hearted girl with a dream of becoming a teacher, sees her future clouded by a diagnosis of Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction in her left eye. Her father, Mohsin Prodhan, a farmer whose monthly income of ৳8,000 barely sustains the family, is heartbroken as he and his wife, Rina Begum, realize they cannot afford the crucial ৳40,500 DCR surgery. With her siblings, Riya and Riyad, also facing financial barriers to their own education, the family’s meager resources are stretched to their limit, making the thought of this life-changing procedure seem like an impossible dream. Without urgent intervention, Liza's vision will continue to worsen, threatening not only her studies but also the joyful spirit she holds onto despite her family's struggles, potentially dimming the bright future she longs for.

Liza Akter, a 11-year-old baby girl, was suffering from constant watering and irritation in her left eye due to a blocked tear duct, which required Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery. The treatment was necessary to relieve her discomfort, prevent infection, and restore normal tear drainage. Under the skilled care of Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant of the Hospital, the surgery was performed successfully under anesthesia. The procedure went smoothly without any complications, and Liza’s recovery has been excellent. After surgery, her eye watering stopped completely, and she now feels much more comfortable. Her visual acuity has improved, and she can see clearly and interact happily with her surroundings. Liza’s parents are relieved and grateful to see their little girl free from discomfort and pain. However, if she is left untreated, the recurrent infection and blocked tear duct will cause permanent vision damage in her left eye, affecting her education, confidence, and daily life.
