Christabel J., 3

Christabel is a 3-year-old in play group at a local primary school. Her mother, a single parent and small-scale farmer, dreams of her daughter becoming a doctor one day. She sustains their household of four through farming and selling produce. They live in a modest two-roomed home. Due to delayed rains and a poor harvest, providing food and paying school fees has been difficult, often causing Christabel to miss school. Two days ago, she developed a cough and fever, which did not fully improve. She was later brought to the facility by a Helpster beneficiary who understood the enrollment process. On assessment, Christabel presented with persistent fever, nasal congestion, chest congestion, cough, and vomiting. Laboratory investigations, including a malaria test, were conducted. The doctor’s evaluation confirmed that she had severe pneumonia, and she was immediately enrolled for treatment.

Christabel was diagnosed severe pneumonia. She was given antibiotics and rehydrating fluids while in the ward. As she started feeling better, she was discharged .During the check-up call, the Helpster volunteer ,her mother was happy and grateful for the good work Helpster Charity did to save her daughter heard from a happy mother that Christabel is now fully recovered and back to her normal life.

Given that Christabel was promptly diagnosed and has already started receiving appropriate treatment, her prognosis is good. With continued medical care, her symptoms are expected to improve, and she should make a full recovery.
