Fatima Adam is a lively 5 year old girl living with her parents and six siblings in a small home. Life is not easy for her family, but she is always cheerful and loves to play with her brothers and sisters in their compound. Fatima began to show signs of illness with high fever, chills, and body weakness, along with stomach discomfort and loss of appetite, leaving her very tired and irritable. She also developed persistent cough, nasal congestion, and chest discomfort, making it difficult for her to play or eat. Her condition worsened rapidly, causing great concern for her parents, who rushed her to Nakowa to seek urgent medical care. Upon presentation at our hospital and after further evaluation she was diagnosed with Malaria + Enteric fever and URTI.

Fatima Adam was managed as an outpatient for Malaria with Enteric fever and ARTI. She presented with high fever, chills, headache, weakness, abdominal pain, and cough with nasal congestion. She was treated promptly with antimalarials, antibiotics, and supportive care. I did a follow-up call, and she confirmed that her fever resolved, her cough improved, and she has fully regained her strength. Thanks to Helpster Charity, her medical expenses were fully covered, allowing her to recover comfortably at home.

With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, Malaria with Enteric fever and ARTI in Fatimma Adam generally have a good prognosis. Most patients recover fully with antimalarials, antibiotics, supportive care, and rest. Delayed or inadequate treatment may lead to complications such as severe anemia, dehydration, respiratory distress, or systemic infection.
