Elvis Kemboi is a 3-year-old boy living at Sunrise Children’s Home. He comes from a poor background and was raised by a single mother before being taken into the orphanage. He enjoys playing with his friends. The Children’s Home was introduced to Helpster through a site visit by Tionycare Hospital together with Helpster’s volunteer, Vincent. Elvis had been healthy until two days ago when he developed fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Despite initial treatment, his symptoms persisted, and he was later diagnosed with severe pneumonia.

Elvis Kemboi, a bright and playful 3-year-old boy, had always been full of energy and joy. But one morning, his guardian noticed something was wrong—Elvis had developed a high fever, a persistent cough, and was experiencing difficulty in breathing. Alarmed, the guardian rushed him to the nearest hospital, where doctors quickly diagnosed him with severe pneumonia, a serious lung infection that required immediate treatment. Elvis was admitted and started on a strict treatment plan that included amoxiclav and gentamycin to fight the infection, paracetamol to reduce the fever, and cetirizine to relieve the congestion. The first few days were challenging, and Elvis needed oxygen to help him breathe. His guardian stayed close, offering comfort and support throughout the process. Gradually, Elvis began to respond to the treatment—his fever subsided, his breathing improved, and his strength returned. After several days of care and medication, he was discharged home to complete his recovery. Thanks to timely medical attention and the unwavering support of his guardian, Elvis made a full recovery and is now back to his cheerful, energetic self.

Elvis’s diagnosis of severe pneumonia is a serious condition, especially in young children like him, but with the early hospital admission, appropriate antibiotics, and close monitoring, the outlook is generally positive. Most children respond well to treatment within 48–72 hours, showing improvement in breathing, fever, and overall activity.
