Malcolm is the only child of his parents, who live together in a small two-room mud house. Both parents are casual laborers with no stable employment, surviving on a hand-to-mouth basis. One Wednesday, his mother noticed that Malcolm’s body felt slightly hot, but she did not take any immediate action. Shortly afterward, Malcolm began vomiting and experienced episodes of diarrhea. On the day his condition worsened, his mother went to the market to buy some supplies before seeking medical care for him. While she was at the market, Malcolm developed convulsions, prompting his mother to rush him to the hospital for urgent treatment. He was brought to the emergency room on time where he was quickly stabilized and admitted for further management, with that his prognosis is now hopeful with a chance to make a full recovery.

Malcolm was brought to the hospital with complains of hotness of the body, diarrhea and vomiting. His lab results showed presence of a lot of malaria parasites, he was diagnosed with severe malaria and septicemia. This warranted admission, while in the ward he received a number of medications like IV artesunate, AL , paracetamol,getamycin, Ranferon among others. He was tolerant to these drugs eventually recovering and duly discharged. He was set for a follow up clinic after 14 days to monitor child's progress.

Malcolm has been diagnosed with malaria complicated by febrile convulsions and is now under appropriate medical management. With the initiation of prompt antimalarial therapy, fever control, and supportive care, his condition is expected to improve steadily.
