Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Baby Billal Hossain, just one month old, is a precious and lively boy from a very poor family in Chandpur, bringing hope and joy to his parents and two sisters, Rahima and Khadiza. His father, Md. Kuddus Ali Bepary, earns only 8,000 BDT a month as a landless farmer, while his mother, Asma Akter, cares for the children at home, leaving no way to afford the costly medical treatment Billal urgently needs. Born prematurely and having already spent 13 days in the NICU, Billal was recently diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, putting his vision at serious risk. Without immediate treatment, he may lose his eyesight permanently, jeopardizing his future and ability to grow and learn like other children. This loving family is desperately appealing for help to give Billal a chance to see the world and live a healthy life.

Medical history

Billal Hossain, a 1-month-old infant, required immediate treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes to prevent further retinal damage and potential vision loss. He was treated with Anti-VEGF injections by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist, to control abnormal blood vessel growth. The treatment progressed well, and follow-up exams showed significant improvement in his retinal condition. With the abnormal vessel growth now under control, there is strong hope that he will develop clear and healthy vision. Thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes, Billal received essential care that is helping him regain his sight.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Billal needs urgent Anti-VEGF injections such as Avastin in both eyes, followed by routine check-ups to monitor his recovery. The doctors believe that with timely treatment, Billal’s vision can be saved, giving him the opportunity to grow up seeing his parents, siblings, and the beautiful world around him. However, if left untreated, the prognosis is devastating—he will gradually lose his sight and face a life of blindness. The cost of the treatment is around BDT 20,000, which his poor family cannot afford. With the kind support of donors and Helpster Charity, Billal has the chance to restore his vision and live a brighter future.
