Jafar I., 4

Jafar is 4 years old, he is a very active and joyous kid, he is last child among 8 children, he is not enrolled into any school as the parents cannot afford to pay his school fees. The father is a small scale farmer and the mother is a house wife. Jafar suddenly stopped being active, he kept rejecting food and keeps complaining about his head being heavy, abdominal pain, the temperature has been high for few days and only paracetamol syrup was given by his mother. She could not take him to the hospital because of financial challenges. She got a news about the free medical care by Helpster Charity from a beneficiary and they contacted Albishir Hospital for further evaluation. Upon presentation at our hospital he was diagnosed with enteric fever and Malaria.

He was admitted at our facility and thoroughly examined. He was diagnosed with malaria and enteric fever, treatment with antimalarials, antibiotics and other supportive care. Patient became stable and was discharged. He is to return after 1 week for follow up. Family are happy and grateful for the support given by Helpster charity.

In malaria, early use of effective antimalarial drugs and supportive care usually leads to quick recovery, but delays in treatment or severe forms like Plasmodium falciparum infection may result in complications such as cerebral malaria, anemia, or organ damage, which can be life-threatening. For enteric fever, prognosis is favorable when proper antibiotics, hydration, and nutrition are given, though untreated or resistant cases may progress to complications like intestinal perforation, bleeding, or prolonged illness. Overall, both conditions have a positive outlook when managed promptly, but poor access to care or drug resistance can worsen outcomes. Jafar recieved timely treatment to prevent any complications, continued management until he fully recovers.
