Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Afsana Tanjim, a bright and caring 12-year-old girl, loves studying, cooking, and gardening, and dreams of continuing her education to support her family’s future. She lives with her parents and two siblings in a small tin-made house, where her father, Shafi Ullah, earns only 8,000 BDT a month as a day laborer, barely enough to cover basic needs. Afsana is gradually losing vision in her left eye due to developmental cataract, making daily activities and schoolwork increasingly difficult, but her family cannot afford the BDT 45,000 needed for urgent surgery. Without treatment, she risks permanent blindness in that eye, which would severely limit her education, hobbies, and future opportunities. Her parents are desperately appealing for help to give their daughter a chance to regain her sight and live a normal, fulfilling life.

Medical history

Afsana Tanzim, a 12-year-old child, required cataract surgery in her left eye because the cataract was severely affecting her ability to see clearly and perform daily activities. The surgery was successfully carried out under local anesthesia by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring a safe and carefully monitored procedure. Throughout the treatment process, Afsana cooperated well, and the medical team closely tracked her progress to ensure smooth healing. After the surgery, she experienced significant improvement in comfort and visual clarity. Her visual acuity continues to get better with each follow-up visit, allowing her to see more confidently and participate fully in her studies and daily life. The successful outcome has brought great relief and happiness to her family. Thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes, she received the essential treatment needed to restore her vision. Their support played a crucial role in helping her regain sight in the operated eye.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Afsana urgently requires cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation in her left eye. The doctors believe that the surgery will successfully restore her vision and enable her to resume her education and daily life with confidence. They have warned that if left untreated, the cataract will cause permanent vision loss in the affected eye, which will severely limit her opportunities and independence in the future. With timely surgery, Afsana has an excellent chance to see the colorful world again, pursue her hobbies, and build a brighter future.
