Baby Saima Akter Mim, only 2 months old, lives in a broken tin-shed house in Pabna with her parents and six other family members, who struggle every day to meet even their basic needs. The patient was admitted with complaints of difficulty during defecation and occasional discomfort during urination. After thorough evaluation, the case was diagnosed as an ano-cutaneous fistula, and an anoplasty surgery was successfully performed under general anesthesia on 21/09/2025. The procedure went smoothly without complications, and the patient showed steady improvement during the hospital stay. On 25/09/2025, the patient was discharged in stable condition with proper postoperative advice. Doctors have explained that with timely surgical treatment and proper ongoing care, Baby Saima’s life can improve significantly. Surgery for Anorectal Malformation (ARM) can create a functional anus, allowing her to pass stool normally and greatly reducing the risk of painful complications and infections. With proper follow-up, many children with ARM can grow up leading a healthy, relatively normal life. However, if Baby Saima does not receive treatment, her condition will continue to worsen. She would likely experience severe pain, chronic constipation, repeated infections, and potentially life-threatening complications. Over time, untreated ARM can lead to serious digestive and nutritional problems, and her overall quality of life would be extremely compromised. Early intervention is critical to give her the best chance of survival and a healthy childhood.
