Umme Hafsa K., 7

Hafsa is a bright and determined 7-year-old girl from a poor village family in Bangladesh, who dreams of becoming highly educated and lifting her family out of poverty. Her father, the imam of the local mosque, earns only 6000 BDT a month to support six family members, which is barely enough for food and daily needs, leaving no possibility to afford her treatment. Since birth, Hafsa has suffered from swelling and pain in her right inguinal region caused by a hernia, which continues to trouble her. Without surgery, her condition could worsen into dangerous complications like bowel obstruction or strangulation, which may even become life-threatening. Despite their struggles, her family holds onto hope that Hafsa’s future can be saved with timely treatment.

Umme Hafsa admitted in Modern Hospital on 18 September 2025. A seven-year-old cheerful little girl often complained about stomach pain. Her father told us that she had been saying this since she was very young. We took her to the doctor, and the doctor said she needed surgery for a hernia. Although the hernia seemed small at first glance, in reality it could turn into a very serious condition in the future, even posing a risk to her life. We admitted the girl to the hospital and arranged for the operation the same day. She is now healthy. She discharge from hospital on 20 September 2025. Her father serves as an imam at a small mosque in the village, and their family lives on the modest income from this work. Because the surgery was done free of cost, the family is very happy. They wish to educate their daughter in religious studies in the future. We are delighted to have been able to give this girl the opportunity for a healthy and beautiful life.
