Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Peris is a 6-year-old girl who lives with her family in a rural area. She is raised by both parents, although her mother is the main provider, earning about KSh 2,500 per month from hawking in the local market. With such limited income, the family often struggles to afford even basic healthcare. Peris presented with a history of persistent vomiting and fever of gradual onset. She had also been admitted several times in the past for blood transfusions. When her father brought her to the facility, she appeared sick and was clinically febrile. In desperation, he approached the hospital in-charge, requesting treatment for his daughter and promising to settle the bill later when able. The in-charge, however, referred him to the Helpster coordinator, who then facilitated support through the Helpster Charity Organization.

Medical history

Peris was diagnosed with severe malaria and b Anaemia. She was given antibiotics ,antimalarial, anaemic drugs and rehydrating fluids. As she started feeling better, she was discharged from the hospital to continue her treatment at home. During the check-up call, the Helpster volunteer heard from a happy mother that she is now fully recovered and back to his normal life, she goes to school .

Outcome

Peris’s prognosis is fair to good. With timely medical attention and continued treatment, her condition is expected to improve. However, given her history of recurrent illness and previous blood transfusions, close follow-up and consistent medical care will be essential to ensure full recovery and prevent future complications.
