Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

As a child, Yusuf enjoyed playing outdoors and exploring nature with his friends. Despite financial hardships, he dreamed of becoming a healthcare worker to help his community and prevent illnesses like malaria. Yusuf experienced high fever, chills, body aches, and weakness for four days before being admitted to the hospital. Upon presentation at our hospital, and after further evaluation, he was diagnosed with Severe Malaria.

Medical history

Yusuf was admitted on 10 September 2025 for close monitoring and treated with IV antimalarial medication and supportive care. He responded well, with fever resolving by day two and a negative malaria test by day four. He was discharged on 14 September 2025 in stable condition on day five. All treatment costs were covered by The Helpster Charity, ensuring he received proper care.

Outcome

Yusuf Muhammed, a 20-year-old male, was diagnosed with Severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. He presented with a 4-day history of high fever, chills, body aches, weakness, headache, and loss of appetite. On examination, he had fever and mild pallor but no severe complications. Laboratory tests confirmed malaria infection, and he was treated with IV Artesunate and supportive care. He responded well to treatment, and the infection cleared without complications. He was discharged in stable condition after 4 days. With prompt treatment using IV Artesunate, Yusuf made a full recovery without complications. The doctor expects no long-term impact on his life if he continues to rest and stay hydrated. However, if left untreated, malaria especially caused by Plasmodium falciparum—can become life-threatening. It may lead to severe anemia, organ failure, coma, or even death, particularly in vulnerable individuals like children or those with poor access to healthcare. Early treatment is critical to prevent these serious outcomes.
