Meghla Akhter, the youngest of five children, lives with her family in a small rented room in Dhaka. Her father works as a day laborer, earning around 8,500 BDT per month, which is barely enough to cover daily expenses. Recently, Meghla developed a severe neck infection that requires immediate medical attention. The condition is worsening each day and may lead to serious complications if left untreated. Her parents are unable to afford the surgery and medicines needed for her recovery. With timely support, Meghla can receive the treatment she needs to return to good health and continue her education.

Meghla Akhter was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 26 September 2025 with an infected arterio-venous malformation at the root of her neck, complicated by severe anemia. She received broad-spectrum antibiotics, blood transfusions, regular wound dressing, and supportive care under close medical supervision. Over the course of treatment, her fever subsided, infection improved, and her general condition became stable. She was discharged on 5 October 2025 with advice for follow-up and continued wound care. According to the doctors, timely treatment can completely change Meghla’s future. With proper antibiotics, wound care, and correction of anemia, the infection can be controlled, and her strength gradually restored. Once stabilized, surgery to remove the mass will give her the chance to recover fully and live a healthy, active life. However, if left untreated, the infection could spread to her bloodstream, leading to life-threatening septicemia, or even long-term complications such as cancerous changes in the affected tissue. Early intervention is therefore critical to save Meghla’s life and ensure her full recovery.
