Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Md. Omar Faruk, a 16-year-old boy from a poor village family, lives with his parents and four siblings. His father, a day laborer earning only 6,500 taka per month, struggles to provide food and basic needs, leaving no means to afford costly medical treatment. Despite hardship, Omar is a humble, hardworking, and respectful boy who dreams of returning to school and helping his family escape poverty. Unfortunately, he suffers from a hernia that causes severe pain and swelling, especially when he works to support his father. Without timely surgery, his condition could worsen, leading to strangulation of the intestine, bowel obstruction, or life-threatening complications, endangering both his health and his future.

Medical history

Md. Omar Faruk came to the hospital on September 25, 2025, and, through a Helpster volunteer, consulted with a doctor. On the same day, he was admitted to the hospital. From the conversation between the doctor and the patient, it was learned that the patient was suffering from Left-sided Inguinal Hernia. He had been experiencing pain and swelling in the left inguinal region with scrotum since birth, and the pain worsened while working. As per the doctor’s advice, surgery was performed that very night. He remained under close observation in the hospital for the next two days and was discharged on September 27, 2025. He is now in good health and has expressed his gratitude to Modern Hospital and Helpster. We are pleased to have been able to assist in his treatment.

Outcome

The doctor has recommended herniotomy under general anesthesia as the definitive treatment to fully repair the hernia and prevent future complications. With timely surgery, the child is expected to recover completely and live a healthy, active life without pain or restrictions. However, if the hernia is left untreated, it may worsen over time, leading to severe complications such as incarceration or strangulation, which can cut off blood supply to the intestine and become life-threatening. Delaying treatment could also result in chronic pain, swelling, and difficulty in daily activities. Early surgical intervention will not only relieve the child’s discomfort but also ensure normal growth and development.
