Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Mariyum Akter, a 3½-year-old girl full of promise and joy, lives with her parents in a small rural home where her father works as a low-income day laborer. Once active and playful, she is now critically ill with persistent fever and convulsions that have not improved despite prolonged treatment at government hospitals. Her condition has deteriorated to the point that she urgently requires Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) support, which her family cannot afford due to severe financial hardship. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, the government hospital officially sought assistance from Helpster Charity to save her life. With timely intervention and advanced care, there remains hope that Mariyum can recover and one day fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor.
Medical history
Mariyum Akter, a 3.5-year-old girl, was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 30 September 2025 with high-grade fever and recurrent convulsions lasting for 12 days 2/3 episode in a day. On examination Heart rate was 102 beats/min, RR 44 breaths/min, Temp 101 F, BP 80/60 mm of Hg, reflex poor and GCS 05/15 and admitted as first at PICU. She was diagnosed with Septicemia and Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis and required PICU support for intensive treatment. The medical team managed her with broad-spectrum antibiotics, anticonvulsant therapy, anti TB drug and supportive care including physiotherapy and NG feeding. Gradually, her fever subsided, convulsions were controlled, and her consciousness improved on 16.10.2025 with GCS 10/15 patient shifted to ward By the time of discharge on 19 October 2025, Mariyum was stable, alert, and recovering well under continued home care and follow-up advice. The patient was admitted in the PICU for 16 days and then shifted to the normal bed for 3 days. After 15 days later the patient came to follow up visit and changed NG tube and advised to come next follow up visit after one month. But unfortunately the hospital informed over phone that the patient get death on 06.12.2026 due to Cardio-respiratory failure at home.
Outcome
The doctors have confirmed that Mariyum’s condition—septicemia with necrotizing meningoencephalitis—is extremely critical but potentially reversible with immediate PICU support. Intensive treatment with antibiotics, fluid therapy, and continuous monitoring can help control the infection, reduce brain inflammation, and stabilize her vital organs. If she shows improvement, she can be shifted to the general ward for ongoing investigations and close follow-up to ensure recovery. However, if left untreated, the infection can spread uncontrollably, leading to severe brain damage, multi-organ failure, coma, or death. Prompt and advanced medical care is essential to save her life and give her a chance to recover fully.
