Zainab Abdulkarewm Auwal is 31 years old, she is married to Auwaul Abubakar ALI. She is pregnant with their first child after a previous miscarriage in December 2021. This is her second pregnancy. She was in General hospital Kawo where she had her antenatal, while waiting for the labour to kick in there was no progress with that. Now she has passed her EDD and she came to our facility. She’s a primipara at term who presented to the hospital with complaints of labor like pain of 12hours, at presentation she was evaluated to be at active phase of labor following which labor progress and fetal vital signs, progress was poor and fetal distress was noticed and as such was planned for emergency Cesarean section. This is her first pregnancy that has gotten to full term, she has been in labor pain for about 12hours with poor progress in the labor. Fetal distress was noticed, and the patient is gradually losing strength. It is advisable to take her in for emergency Cesarean section so as to save both mother and child. On presentation, the patient had prolonged labour with features of fetal distress. Following evaluation by the Gynaecologist, a diagnosis of failure to progress in labour was made. Her family could not raise the money for the surgery to be done in the General Hospital so she was rushed down to get help from Helpster Charity. This is a remarkable case of a 31-year-old lady with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss, having experienced two previous miscarriages, resulting in a prolonged period of infertility spanning four years. Her current pregnancy, which had progressed to term, was complicated by failure of labour to progress, prompting a timely decision to perform a Caesarean section under general anaesthesia to prevent fetal distress. The procedure was successful, and both mother and baby are doing well post-delivery. They received standard post-operative care, including pain management and antibiotic prophylaxis, and were discharged after a four-day hospital stay. It's noteworthy that the family's financial burden was alleviated thanks to the generous support of Helpster Charity, covering the entire cost of treatment.

Zainab's condition is critical and can result to death for the fetus if emergency C/S is not done, however the prognosis is good with urgent C/S and proper care. With urgent intervention (Ceasarean section), and proper follow-up care, both mother and child would be fine and can expect to make a full recovery as well as potentially pursue future pregnancies.
