Abduljalal I., 8

Abduljalal is 8 years old male child living with his parents in a small community of Bauchi State. He is not enrolled in school because of financial difficulties. Abduljalal was presented with a 4-day history of high-grade fever, chills, difficulty in breathing, headache, abdominal pain and general body weakness. He also had cough, nasal congestion, and difficulty in breathing. There was no vomiting or convulsion. Appetite was poor, and sleep was disturbed due to fever and cough. Upon presentation at our hospital, and after further evaluation, he was diagnosed with Malaria + RTI.

Abduljalal an 8 years old male child presented with abdominal pains, fever, cough, poor appetite and dizziness for over 3 days. He was admitted and diagnosed with malaria and respiratory tract infection. Treatment commenced with injection antimalarials and infection antibiotics and other supportive. Patient did well, became stable, strength was restored. He was discharged with some take home orals and was scheduled for follow-up. The family remain grateful to Helpster Charity for their support.

With prompt and appropriate treatment, patients with malaria and respiratory tract infection usually recover fully. Delay in treatment may lead to complications such as severe anemia, respiratory distress, or sepsis. Early diagnosis, hydration, and proper medication greatly improve recovery outcomes.
