Taniya A., 21

Taniya Akter, a gentle and hopeful 21-year-old mother, is now over 34 weeks into a high-risk pregnancy, but her husband’s income of only 5,000–6,000 BDT as a day labourer makes it impossible for the family to afford the urgent medical care she needs. Living in a small tin house with her in-laws, her husband’s younger brother, and her 2-year-old daughter, Taniya tries to stay positive despite her history of a missed abortion and the current baby being in a dangerous breech position. She dreams of a safe delivery, but without proper treatment and a likely caesarean section, both her life and her baby's life could be in serious danger. Her family, already struggling with poverty and past medical complications, fears the worst if she is left untreated. Support for her care is crucial to protect not only Taniya’s life, but also the future of her growing family.

The patient, Taniya was admitted to City Clinic on 22th November 2025. A successful cesarean section was performed the same day, and she delivered a healthy 2.4 kg female baby. Both mother and child progressed well and were discharged on 26th November 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The doctors believe that a Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) is the safest treatment option for Taniya and her baby, and with this procedure, both mother and child have an excellent chance of a healthy outcome. A timely LUCS will prevent the life-threatening complications associated with breech presentation, such as obstructed labour, birth trauma, or fetal distress. It will also protect Taniya from the severe risks linked to her previous obstetric history. However, if she remains untreated, both she and her baby face dangerous complications during delivery, which could lead to permanent harm or even loss of life. Receiving the proper medical intervention is crucial to ensuring a safe delivery and securing the future of her growing family.
