Nusrat Jahan, a 10-year-old girl from Isapurna village, Bakerganj, Barishal, lives with her parents in a small rural home. Her father, Md. Nazrul Ali, works as a farmer earning very little, while her mother, Tisha Begum, manages the household and cares for her children. For nearly a year, Nusrat has suffered from severe throat pain, recurrent fever, and difficulty eating and speaking. Due to financial hardship, the family could not afford her treatment, and her condition continued to worsen. Without proper medical care, the infection risked spreading further, putting her health and life in serious danger.

Nusrat Jahan, a 10-year-old girl from Bakerganj, was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 07 October 2025 with severe throat pain, recurring fever, and chronic tonsillitis. Under the care of Dr. M. H. Rahman, she underwent a successful tonsillectomy the same evening. The surgery went smoothly, and Nusrat began recovering immediately with medication, mouthwash care, and rest. She was discharged on 08 October 2025 in stable condition, with her pain relieved and hope renewed to return to her madrasa and continue reciting the Quran.

The doctor explained that drainage of the peritonsillar abscess and removal of the tonsils under general anesthesia will relieve Nusrat’s pain, restore her ability to eat and speak comfortably, and prevent future throat infections. With successful treatment, she is expected to recover fully and lead a healthy, active life. However, if left untreated, the infection could spread to deeper tissues of the neck or chest, causing severe complications such as airway obstruction or sepsis. This could become life-threatening and lead to long-term health problems. Early surgical intervention is therefore essential to ensure her safety and well-being.
