Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Twelve-year-old Arefin Rahman Raha is a bright and kind-hearted boy from a small village in Faridganj, Chandpur, who dreams of becoming a teacher one day. His father, Shafiqur Rahman, is a paralyzed patient who cannot work and has no source of income, while his mother, Rabeya Akter, stays home to care for Arefin and his younger sister, Rafia, a cheerful seven-year-old student. The family lives in a tiny tin-roofed house owned by Arefin’s grandfather and often struggles even to afford daily meals. Recently, Arefin was diagnosed with Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) in both eyes — a dangerous condition that could cause permanent blindness if not treated urgently. Without timely support, this bright young boy may lose his eyesight forever and with it, his dream of teaching and helping other children in his village.

Medical history

Arefin Rahman Raha, a 12-year-old boy, was experiencing serious vision problems due to retinal complications that required immediate medical intervention. After diagnosis, he received Anti-VEGF injections and PRP laser treatment in both eyes under the expert care of Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Retina Specialist of the Hospital. These treatments were essential to stop abnormal blood vessel growth and prevent further vision loss. The procedures were carried out successfully and without complications, and Arefin Rahman responded very well to the treatment. His vision has significantly improved, and he now feels comfortable and can see clearly again. The improvement in his eyesight has helped him regain confidence and continue his studies and daily activities with ease. His family is extremely happy and grateful for the positive outcome. Sincere thanks to Helpster Charity and the Helpster Heroes for their generous support in helping Arefin Rahman Raha restore his vision and lead a brighter life.

Outcome

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Arefin requires immediate medical intervention involving Anti-VEGF injections and Laser Photocoagulation Therapy to stabilize his condition and restore his vision. The doctors have explained that with timely and proper treatment, Arefin’s retinal swelling can be controlled, and his vision can be significantly improved, allowing him to continue his education and live a normal, healthy life. However, they also cautioned that delaying or skipping treatment could cause permanent damage to the retina, leading to complete and irreversible blindness in both eyes. Early and continuous treatment is crucial to save his vision and prevent lifelong disability. The doctors are ready to begin the procedures immediately once the necessary funds are secured.
