Rabeya Akter, a 17-year-old young mother from Lalbagh, Dhaka, is known in her neighborhood for her gentle nature, kindness, and quiet strength. Her husband works as a daily wage earner, and their small income barely covers food and rent, leaving nothing for emergency medical expenses. When Rabeya developed severe postpartum eclampsia and heavy bleeding after childbirth, her family was helpless — unable to afford ICU care in a private hospital and with no beds available in the government facility. Without immediate treatment, her uncontrolled seizures and blood loss could have led to organ failure or death. Thankfully, a Helpster Volunteer stepped in, helping her reach Olympus Hospital through Helpster’s Charity Program, where she finally received life-saving care.

She was rushed to Olympus Hospital JoICU in an unconscious state, where doctors provided urgent treatment, including blood transfusion, medication, and intensive monitoring. Over the next few days, her condition gradually improved as she regained strength and stability. With proper care and dedication from the medical team, Rabeya made a remarkable recovery and was safely discharged.

According to the doctors at Olympus Hospital, with timely ICU care, strict monitoring, and appropriate medical management, Rabeya Akter has a strong chance of recovering from postpartum eclampsia and severe hemorrhage. Intensive treatment will help stabilize her blood pressure, control seizures, and restore normal organ function, reducing the risk of long-term complications. However, if left untreated, her condition could rapidly deteriorate, leading to multi-organ failure, permanent brain injury, or death due to uncontrolled bleeding and hypertension. The medical team stresses that early and continuous intervention is vital to saving her life and preserving her future health. With consistent care, Rabeya may regain her strength and return to a stable, healthy life.
