Dalhat M., 12

Dalhat is a 12 years old male child, he has 6 other siblings all living with their parents. He attends a government junior secondary school where he aspire to be a banker in future. The father is a blacksmith and the mother is a petty trader, they're all trying hard to provide for the children. They own their apartment where there are 3 rooms and a toilet, they have access to electricity. Patient presented with history of severe fever worst in the evening, bitter taste and loss of appetite for the past two weeks. He has received some antimalarials at home but to no avail. Examination revealed a sick child dehydrated, mildly pale and lethargic. Malaria test is positive. They don't have the means to pay for the child's medication that is why they sought for help from Helpster Charity. Diagnosis of Severe Malaria was made and he was admitted and treated promptly as such.

Dalhat a 12 years old male presented with history of severe fever worst in the evening, bitter taste and loss of appetite for the past two weeks. He was admitted and diagnosed with severe malaria with continued monitoring for signs of complications. Treatment commenced with injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics and other supportive care. Patient did well and was discharged when he was stable. The prognosis of severe malaria depends on how quickly treatment begins and the patient’s overall condition. With early diagnosis, prompt intravenous antimalarial therapy, and intensive supportive care, most patients recover completely. However, delayed treatment or complications such as cerebral malaria, severe anemia, or kidney failure can lead to long-term effects or death. Children, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals are at higher risk of poor outcomes. Early medical attention and careful monitoring greatly improve survival and recovery.
