Mahmuda A., 24

Mahmuda Akter is a 24-year-old homemaker living with her husband Sumon, a carpenter earning Tk. 6,000 per month, and her elderly in-laws. The family’s low income makes it difficult to meet basic needs, and they previously suffered the loss of their first child, Samiya, who died from pneumonia at 5 months of age despite receiving treatment. Mahmuda is now 37+ weeks pregnant and presented with spontaneous rupture of membranes for one day, continuous leaking, and reduced fetal movement. Ultrasound findings revealed severe oligohydramnios with fetal distress, for which an emergency caesarean section is medically necessary. Without timely intervention, there is a high risk of serious complications, including the potential loss of both mother and baby, which the family cannot afford due to their financial constraints.

After experiencing,Spontaneous rupture of membrane & continuous leaking for 01 day & less fetal movement for 01 days, she arrived at our hospital at 3.00 PM in 13 October 2025 and doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed amniotic fluid is very low with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 16th October 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

The doctor has advised an immediate Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) as the safest option to protect both mother and baby. With this timely intervention, the baby can be delivered before further distress or oxygen deprivation occurs, greatly improving the chances of a healthy outcome and preventing long-term complications. For the mother, LUCS reduces the risks associated with prolonged rupture of membranes, infection, and potential labor complications due to her previous caesarean section. If the condition is left untreated, the baby faces a high risk of severe hypoxia, irreversible organ damage, or even stillbirth. Delaying treatment could also endanger the mother’s life, making urgent surgical delivery critical for their survival and well-being.
