Arefa Khatun, a gentle and devoted 22-year-old housewife, lives with her husband Noman Hossain, a day laborer earning only 8,000 taka a month, their little daughter Nazia, and her elderly in-laws who depend on the same limited income. Their earnings are barely enough for food and daily survival, leaving no possibility of saving for emergency medical care—especially after Arefa’s previous cesarean section, which they could only afford by taking a high-interest loan that still burdens the family. Now, at 39 weeks pregnant, Arefa is facing severe oligohydramnios and reduced fetal movement, putting her unborn baby in dangerous distress. Doctors warn that without an urgent LUCS delivery, both Arefa and her child face life-threatening complications, including fetal injury or stillbirth. The family, already overwhelmed by poverty, is desperately hoping for support so Arefa can safely bring her baby into the world.

Arefa Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 19, 2025, with a diagnosis of Breech presentation and Previous C-section. On the same day, she had a successful cesarean section and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Both mother and newborn were discharged on October 23, 2025, in good health. For Arefa, the surgery also reduces the risk of uterine rupture and life-threatening complications that can occur if labor progresses naturally. However, if left untreated, the extremely low amniotic fluid may cause the baby’s condition to worsen rapidly, potentially resulting in stillbirth or severe long-term health problems. With prompt surgical intervention, both mother and child have a strong chance of a safe and healthy outcome.
