Sumi Khatun, a 15-year-old student, lives with her parents and three siblings in a financially struggling family where her father, a poor farmer, cannot earn enough to cover basic needs and medical expenses. Despite these hardships, Sumi is a determined and hopeful girl who dreams of becoming a teacher and supporting her family in the future. Recently, she developed severe abdominal pain with fever and vomiting and was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, which requires urgent surgery. However, due to financial constraints, her family is unable to afford the cost of treatment. They learned about Helpster Charity through nurse Kulsum and volunteer Bablu Abdullah and sought help, as without timely treatment, her condition may worsen, leading to rupture, severe infection, and life-threatening complications.

Sumi Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 18, 2025, with complaints of right-sided abdominal pain. After a thorough medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with a ruptured (burst) appendicitis. On the same day, the attending doctors successfully performed an emergency appendectomy. Following the surgery, Sumi remained in stable condition. After five days of postoperative care and monitoring, she showed significant improvement and was discharged on October 22, 2025, in good health. At the time of discharge, both her father and mother were present at the hospital to receive her. The family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated medical care and continuous support. Her mother was especially thankful to Helpster for providing essential financial assistance during the course of treatment.

With timely appendectomy, Sumi Khatun is expected to recover quickly, as the inflamed appendix will be removed and her pain and infection will resolve. The procedure will allow her to return to her normal daily activities, continue her studies, and regain her strength within a short period. With proper post-operative care, she can lead a healthy life without long-term complications. However, if left untreated, the appendix may rupture, leading to severe infection inside the abdomen. This can cause intense pain, prolonged illness, and life-threatening complications. Delay in treatment may require more complex care and increase the risk to her life. Therefore, timely surgery is essential for her recovery and safety.
