Mst. Ruma Khatun is a gentle and hardworking housewife living with her elderly parents and young daughter, Lamiya, while her family survives on a very limited monthly income of only 7,000 taka earned through day labor. She enjoys cooking and dreams of a safe delivery and a healthy baby, but the family is still burdened by debt from her previous surgery, which was managed through a loan from a local NGO. At 36–37 weeks of pregnancy, she developed concerning symptoms, and medical tests showed a serious condition that requires urgent care. With no savings and ongoing loan repayments, her family is unable to afford the cost of treatment. Mst Ruma Khatun was admitted to the hospital on October 23, 2025, with a diagnosis of Breech Presentation and Oligohydramnois.
