Zainab S., 26

Zainab is 26 years old happily married to her husband 2 years ago, they have their first son before the 2nd one came. The husband is a tricycle rider struggling to get a source of livelihood for the family. They live in a house inherited from the father having 2 rooms and a pit toilet. A 26yr old woman referred from the Faith Alive foundation hospital with a history of failed trial of labour after caesarean (TOLAC). She also had a history of severe preeclampsia in the last pregnancy which warranted a caesarean section 4years ago. She was referred due to failure to progress and failed trial with a cervical os dilatation of 5cm. She had been in labor since the previous day and was having signs of fetal distress (Feta Heart Rate , 106/min) in labour. The family are poor and in dire need of emergency help, looking at the woman's condition she has to be rushed into the theater to save both the mother and child. On presentation at our hospital and after further clinical evaluation, a diagnosis of Preeclampsia with foetal distress in the first stage of labor was made.

Sauba Zainab is a 26 yearold woman referred to our facility from the Faith alive foundation on account of foetal distress in first stage of labour with preeclampsia and 1 previous C/S. She was operated successfully and admitted to the ward to recuperate and for blood pressure control. She was discharged from the hospital on the 4th post operative day forfollow up in clinic and blood pressure control throughout the peuperium. The family are so happy and are very grateful to Helpster Charity for the medical support.

The prognosis for preeclampsia with fetal distress in the first stage of labour depends on the timeliness of diagnosis and intervention. With prompt management — including blood pressure control, seizure prevention, and emergency delivery (usually Caesarean section) — both maternal and fetal outcomes are generally good. Delayed intervention, however, can result in maternal complications such as eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, or renal failure, and fetal complications like hypoxia, acidosis, or stillbirth. Early recognition, intensive monitoring, and skilled obstetric care greatly improve survival and recovery for both mother and baby.
