Sheila is a 3-month-old girl and the third child in her family. Her mother describes her as playful and attentive to those around her. For the past four days, Sheila has experienced episodes of diarrhea and fever. Her mother brought her to the hospital for evaluation, where a malaria test was performed and returned positive. Sheila was diagnosed with severe malaria and gastroenteritis and was admitted for further management.

Sheila was diagnosed with Severe malaria with gastroenteritis and was admitted for futher management ,to foster recuperation, she was given anti malarials,antibiotics and fluids to help regain the lost fluids through diarrhea.She was given I.V artesunate 1905mg 0hrs,12hrs and 24hrs. P.O paracetamol syrup 2.5mls. I.V Ceftriaxone 1.5mg and p.o flagyl syrup On the second day of admission she shown great improvement following medication given to her. She was given I.V artesunate 1905mg 0hrs,12hrs and 24hrs. P.O paracetamol syrup 2.5mls. I.V Ceftriaxone 1.5mg and p.o flagyl syrup. On the fourth day she woke up well and her health status was positively significant healthwise,she recovered fully then later discharged on P.O AL (I) AND CTX syrup. Follow up calls confirm that Sheila is doing well and better

Sheila’s prognosis is good with prompt and appropriate treatment for severe malaria and gastroenteritis. With continued medical management, proper hydration, nutrition, and monitoring for complications, she is expected to recover fully.
